This unique one-day training prepares health care spokespeople to communicate their organization’s story and messages clearly, concisely and enthusiastically to journalist audiences. The program is designed to help your spokespeople learn to utilize a tried-and-true process for preparing and delivering successful media interviews. We do not simply tell participants what to do and what not to do.
We do not simply prepare them to shine in one content area. Our media trainers specialize in applying tested and proven learning techniques to help attendees demonstrate effective media-oriented communication skills which they can consistently use in a variety of media and other presentation contexts.
The session will be custom-tailored to simulate the actual media environment and specific questions your spokespeople are likely to encounter.
As a result of participating in the training, your spokespeople will know how to do the following:
- Prepare for television, radio, print and on-line appearances
- Deliver key messages effectively
- Build trust and rapport with journalists, producers and editors
- Make clear, concise, persuasive points
- Direct the conversation
- Feel confident and come across as a credible educator to the public
- Speak in quotable (memorable) quotes
- Handle difficult questions and reporters’ tricks successfully
- Avoid jargon and use understandable language appropriate for viewer, reader or listening audiences
- Respond in crisis situations quickly, proactively and with compassion
To accomplish these learning objectives, it is necessary to understand how adults learn and how to help them overcome obstacles to the successful integration of new behaviors, processes and communication skills. It is for this reason that our training backgrounds are critical. Combine this with our instructors’ real-world experience in the industry as print and broadcast journalists, as well as our experience in the health care field and you have the recipe you need to fully prepare spokespeople for any type of press interview.
