Communicating with brevity and impact in any situation
– Appropriate for small to large audiences – Two-to-four hours –
Physicians, physician leaders, nurses and other health care executives and professionals are challenged with communicating clearly and concisely with multiple audiences who often represent very different and increasingly complex perspectives, cultures, goals and expectations. Navigating the currents of health care change requires them to be able to communicate with clarity, brevity and sensitivity in high stakes situations where road maps are changing and human emotions run high.
Get to the Point Overview is a two-to-four hour, highly interactive seminar intended to inspire attendees to become more engaging, effective, empathic and to-the-point communicators. Through discussion, demonstration and the entertaining presentation and analysis of positive and negative video vignettes which address relevant and sometimes difficult conversations that health care professionals find themselves in, participants will begin the process of challenging themselves to become more effective in all their communications.
Crucial communication processes will be demonstrated that participants can learn and with practice, master:
- Focal Point Technique (The “Elevator Pitch”): A method which enables participants to answer questions, and make clear and concise statements in an empathic and customer-focused manner – in twenty seconds or less!
- Bridging: A skill that enables participants to address uncomfortable or unanswerable questions or remarks by tactfully and sensitively restructuring the conversation in an honest, informative and positive manner
- Non-Verbal Communication: The powerful role that non-verbal messages play in communication. An exploration of how verbal, vocal and visual cues contribute to delivering congruent, believable messages
